Maybe I'm the only one, but I think Hochzeitsnacht im Paradies is the single finest accomplishment of twentieth-century European culture. It's saved me again and again and again.

"We found a baby tortoise, whose green shell
Seemed carved by elfin hands; whose feet and head
Peeped shy and tiny on the garden bed
That was the world wherein God bade it dwell.
We watched it for some mornings. Then befell
The cruelty of Fate. The careless tread
Of some unconscious foot: and lo, 'twas dead ;
While Nature coldly smiled, and said: 'All's well.'
All's well? O God, why bring into the world
A living thing, whose smallest dainty parts
Exceed man's nicest art; and then and there,
Tortoise or babe, or blossom half unfurled,
Crush it beneath the fatal foot that starts
None knows from whence, and hurries none knows where?"
- Eugene Lee-Hamilton (1845-1907), "Sonnet VII" from Mima Bella

"I despise Salinger's writing and all it represents. The whiney brat as American ideal. Hate Holden. Hate Franny (that poor Yalie stuck having dinner with her; if he's lucky, she never comes back from the bathroom). All the narcissism and empty elitism. Really, really despise it all, and don't begin to understand its resonance with most readers." [1]

Yeah, that. If your book is so transgressive and challenging of hypocrisy, then why is it that every other child in the United States is forced to read it, and how is it that it's been totally embraced by that society's educational culture?

"Thor's Hammer was undoubtedly the best-known 1960s Icelandic band, which is not too useful a guide for curious consumers, as they're likely the only Icelandic '60s band whose product has been reissued for the international market...Certainly the best cuts are the toughest ones from their 1966 London session, where Petur Ostlund pounded the drums with a Who-like fury, and the group wrote engaging, tough mod rockers." [1]

Although I've had this forever (along with G.S. I Love You and some other oddities siphoned from the same post), I only recently listened to it, and it does rock quite hard! There are no clips on YouTube, only some "Danish prog rock" and a "National Socialist Black Metal Polish Scene Band" of the same name.

"I like Mumps or M and a little the new cache, a object-oriented
dialect of the old MUMPS.
M ist the best and speedest hirarchical database
and withe some equal syntax of PERL.
also with the power of a interpreter but the speed of a
un-beatable speed of MUMPS.
cache tranlate any object...bla-bla and any relationals
to the hirarchic or field -structur."
